Drinking water has always been recommended for good health, keeping all of your body’s organs functioning properly. It is recommended by most doctors that you drink eight glasses of water a day, which is about 2 liters. During the summer everything is dry, but your skin shouldn’t have to be. See why you should drink up and drink in the benefits of H2O.

Water changes skin density

A study published in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science found that water has great long-term results. Drinking about 9.5 cups of water a day for at least four weeks changed skin density and thickness.

Water increases blood flow

Consuming water regularly can also show immediate results. A study done at the University of Missouri-Columbia proved that drinking at least 2 cups of water increased blood flow to the skin. Since your skin works like an organ, better blood flow is always healthy.

Water could defend you against breakouts

Consuming more water can also decrease the concentration of oil on your skin, fending off breakouts. Water acts like a filter to properly balance the ratio of oil to water on the skin. This keep your pores from getting clogged and blemished surfacing on your face.

It can keep skin glowing

Although it is not yet scientifically proven, dermatologists notice that patients who consume more water have healthier looking skin. Without proper intake, skin can often appear dull and present more wrinkles. Water keeps skin rejuvenated as well. Many structures in the skin that support collagen need water to work correctly.

Are you worried you haven’t been taking proper care of your skin? No worries! Call Knoxville Dermatology Group to set up an appointment today at (865) 690-9467.
