Unfortunately, acne is no longer a thing of the teenage years. In fact, this study presented last year at the American Academy of Dermatology annual meeting found that more adults are getting acne than ever before.
While there are many thoughts as to why these numbers are increasing, today we are going to focus on clearing that acne up. First, streamline your skincare routine. Are you washing your face daily? What about twice daily? If you have oily skin, wash morning and night with a cleanser containing salicylic acid, tea tree oil or something antibacterial to clear away dirt in your pores. If you have dry skin, cleanse once a day. Follow that with a light moisturizer (since it is summer) and dab a small amount of prescription pimple cream if necessary.
Second, watch your habits. Are you constantly talking on the phone or putting your hand on your face? Doing either of these things will transmit oil onto your face, clogging your pores and causing acne. Are your eating habits not the best? Try cutting back on greasy foods or those high in sugar because the insulin jump after consuming them can increase oil on your face as well.
