Get Smooth Summer Skin with Laser Hair Reduction

Smooth skin is always in style, especially in the summer, but shaving and other hair removal processes can be a hassle. Although there isn’t a current process to permanently remove hair, laser hair reduction can make smooth skin easy, relaxing and successful. Here are some basics for you to consider this summer:

Hair color matters

You should know that laser hair reduction is most effective on darker hair. Blonde, grey, white and red hair shades cannot be detected by the lasers, and therefore, do not respond properly. Treatment can reduce to some extent light brown and medium brown shades of hair; however, the darker your hair is the more effective it will work.

How does it work?

During laser hair reduction, a laser passes through the skin to each individual hair follicle. The heat from the laser beam damages the hair and inhibits future growth. Although laser hair reduction slows the hair growth process, it will not permanently remove hair. It will take multiple treatments to obtain an extended hair-free period. To maintain your smooth skin, you might need to revisit for maintenance treatments.

Is it painful?

Besides shaving, laser hair reduction is one of the least painful options available. Most people compare the sensation of laser hair reduction to the snap of a rubber band against the skin. The amount of treatment time will vary depending on the amount of hair you wish to treat.

What about the recovery and results?

Although laser hair reduction is less irritating to the skin than waxing and shaving, you might still experience some minor redness and inflammation. Any irritation typically resolves within a few hours of the treatment and you will be given instructions on how to care for your skin. Although some hair may back, you should expect to see a gradual decrease in hair thickness and quantity.

Laser hair reduction is safe and noninvasive due to its targeting abilities. Laser hair reduction should only be administered by trained and experienced professionals.
