Best Nighttime Routines

Health routines are most easily followed in the evenings. Just like brushing your teeth, dermatologists recommend a morning and night routine. This gives your skin about 12 hours to work its magic to heal and boost your complexion. Here are the best nightly routines for your skin.

  1. Wash your face. Removing makeup, sunscreen and dirt to unclog your pores is essential. Make sure to choose a cleanser that matches your skin type (see how to determine your skin type here.) Washing regularly also helps prevent dead skin cell build-up.
  2. Apply skin treatment products. The best time to apply prescription or over-the-counter medicine is in the evening. Your skin isn’t at risk of perspiration, makeup build-up or sunburn and has enough time to heal.
  3. Skin moisture leads to strong, glowy skin. This protects your skin from dryness, irritation and redness. Moisturizers work best when applied after cleansing.
  4. Get a good night’s rest. The target range of sleep is between seven to nine hours of sleep. Skin can appear dull without proper rest.

Taking these few simple steps can work wonders for your skin and help you wake up feeling refreshed. Book an appointment with Knoxvile Dermatology Group by calling (865)690-9467.
