Some of our biggest fall skin fears include uneven tone, rough patches of dry skin and breakouts caused by sudden seasonal shifts. In our last post we talked about how exfoliation is an essential part of your skincare routine for fall, but you can do more. Here are some tips to keep you looking hot while the weather is cold.

• Avoid harsh elements – try soap-free cleansers, reducing the heat of your bath and cutting out excessive washing to prevent dryness.

• Moisturize – be sure to include it during the colder months, especially. Choose a moisturizer that contains lipids and humectants. The best moisturizers contain these two ingredients and can be found easily at your local store. Remember also to reapply hand creams after hand washing.

• Eat a balanced diet – there are certain foods with nutrients that will give your skin a boost. Omega 3-rich foods such as oily fish and flaxseed and antioxidant rich foods such as tomatoes, broccoli and green leafy vegetables help make a difference in the way you feel and how your skin looks.

• Apply SPF every day – even through the cold months, continue to slather on sunscreen to stop sun spots from darkening and prevent new ones from forming.

Our dermatologists would love to help you adjust your skincare routine for the changing seasons.
