Bare those Legs!

Knoxville Dermatology Group

Despite the recent cold front in Knoxville, warm weather continues to lurk. It won’t be long until we can officially store sweaters and scarves and break out the skirts and sundresses. Now is the perfect time to deal with unwanted hair!

If you struggle with ingrown hairs or quick hair regrowth, you may want to look into options outside of the shave or wax route. Although there is currently no permanent hair removal method, our MediSpa offices do offer laser hair reduction which can reduce the appearance of hair considerably.

Here’s how it works – the high-energy laser light targets the pigment of the hair follicle, inhibiting the hair’s growth. No need to worry about skin irritation. The laser is so specific that it leaves the surrounding skin unharmed. The medically trained professionals at MediSpa make adjustments to the laser based on your skin type, skin tone, skin texture and the condition of your hair and skin.

The amount of time needed for your appointment will vary depending on the amount of hair you wish to treat. Some hairs may not grow back, but the hair that does return will be lighter in color and finer in texture. Most people require 5-7 treatments in order to reduce hair. After that, you will need to come back for maintenance treatments. Please call one of our certified dermatologists to discuss what options are best for you.

If you have any questions about laser hair reduction or about changes in your skin, please call us today at 865-690-9467. Skin health is an important part of total body wellness. Schedule an appointment with one of our board certified physicians to get your skin the care it needs so it can reach its fullest, healthiest potential.
